Owen Calvin Basnett was born in Monongehela County, West Virginia, June 16, 1851, and died in Concordia, Kansas November 9, 1922, aged 71 years, four months and 23 days. The cause of his death was paralysis.

Mr. Basnett went to Bloomington, Illinois, from West Virginia, and in 1876 he was married to Miss Sarah Armina Durant. He came to Kansas in 1878 and settled in Cloud County. He remained here until the death of his wife in 1898. From Cloud County he moved to Ness County, where he remained until 1921 when he returned to Concordia and has made his home with his son, T.J. Basnett.

He is survived by three children, T.J. Basnett of Concordia; Mrs. Edith Truex of Ravanna, Nebraska, and Albert Basnett of Everett, Washington. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Basnett was a member of the Evangelical Church, and of the Odd Fellow's Lodge for 42 years.

The funeral was held Sunday at Delphos, at 3:00, by Rev. L.E. Cooke, of this city. The Odd Fellows had charge of the services at the grave.

Interment was in the Delphos Cemetery by the side of his wife.
