He was the husband of Mariah Jane Scott Holaday. They had nine (9) Children: 1. Eliza Holaday (1827-????) 2. Robert A. Holaday (1829-1898) 3. Margeret Jane Holaday (1831-1905) 4. Thomas Scott Holaday (1834-1906) 5. Edith (Adeth) Holaday Boyd (1836-1919) 6. Oscar Holiday (1837-1841) 7. Mary A. Holaday (1840-????) 8. Amelia Holaday (1843-????) 9. John W. Holaday (1847-????)

William Holaday, a native of North Carolina and her mother, Mariah Jane Scott, of South Carolina. William Holladay located in Orange County, Indiana, when a boy, accompanying his father, at a time when it was necessary to live within the fort because of the Indians. He later went to Illinois and ran a flat-boat to New Orleans. In later years he followed the trade of a saddler in Vermilion County, Illinois. He and his wife died in Putnam County, Indiana.
