Donna Jessie Waugh, 95, of La Junta, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2019 at the Fowler Health Care Center after a brief illness. She was born September 25, 1923 in Sugar City, Colorado to Jesse Eli Crockett and Mary Belvina (Unfred) Crockett.

Donna was a lifetime resident of the Arkansas Valley having resided in Sugar City, Ordway, Rocky Ford and La Junta.

Donna was a civic minded person serving on numerous agencies to include the Eastern Plains Legislative Task Force, Lower Arkansas Valley Area Agency on Aging (25 years), Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (20 years). She was active in SAGE Nutrition Services and La Junta Senior Center. She served as election judge in Ordway for many years, assisted with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, assisted with school band and room mother, sang in church choir, planned and served numerous funeral and wedding dinners, loved to dance, cook, and play bingo. She loved her children and always said "my children came first."

Donna is survived by son, Richard Allen (Theresa) Waugh of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Dianna Dee (Dale) Adams of Lamar, CO; son, Edwin Clinton Waugh, Jr. (Jan) of Albuquerque, NM; son, Ricky Allan (Della) Waugh of Rocky Ford, CO; daughter, Cynthia Kaye (Scott) Campbell of Rye, CO; sister-in-law, Norma Jean (Gard) Crockett of Arvada, CO; son-in-law, Rick Waggoner of Rocky Ford, CO; 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren; eight nieces; two nephews; and a host of friends including very special friends Lela Sprague, Christine Chapman, Lois Davidson and Clara Warren.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Clinton Waugh, Sr.; parents, Jesse Eli & Mary Belvina Crockett; daughter, Patricia Lee Waggoner; brothers, Robert Frederick Crockett, Raymond Eugene Crockett, David Andreau Crockett and George Rex Crockett; sisters, Dorothy Pauline Gardner, Josephine Elaine Larsen, Marjorie Belle King, Hazel Maxine Crockett, Marilyn Ruth Proctor, twins Neomi Jean and Norma Jane Crockett; sister-in-law, Thelma Crockett; brother-in-law’s, Paul Gardner, Nels Larsen, Warren King, John Proctor; son-in-law, Allen Lee Ringle; grandsons, Gerald Lucero and Roy Michael Smith; nephews, Lawrence "Butch" Gardner and Nels "Chris" Larsen; niece, Margaret Gardner.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Lou Ward of the United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford.
