Maudie Inez Callan, 93, died Feb. 25, 2005 at Hamilton. Funeral services were held Feb. 27, 2005 in the Riley Funeral Home/Evant Chapel in Evant with Rev. David Bonnet officiating. Burial followed in the Murphree Cemetery at Evant.
She was born Sept. 19, 1911 at Antelope Mountain, Coryell County, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Manning Hill.
She was married to Raymond Callan in 1926 in Coryell County, he preceded her in death on June 6, 1969.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great-grandmother. She was a helpmate to her husband, working in the fields as well as taking care of the home and children. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a son Jimmy Dean Callan; three sisters and six brothers. Survivors include her three daughters, Margaret Stephens of Evant, Billie Jo Sims of Albuquerque, NM, Anna Vera Sellers of Mansfield and a son, R.G. Callan of Evant; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grand-children and a sister, Vera Richardson of Spokane, Washington.
Pallbearers were Jerry Stephens, Danny Stephens, Raymond Callan, Bubba Callan, Bob Sellers and Zeb Veazey
