At the age of 67, Lanny Dale Boone died on November 14, 2013. Born on June 25, 1946, Lanny is the son of the late Dale Alden Boone of Aaronsburg, Pennsylvania, and Rosella May (Stover) Boone Allison of both Aaronsburg and Millheim, Pennsylvania. A 1964 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School, he continued his studies at both the United States Naval Academy and Penn State University (in State College, PA). Lanny was employed as a computer programmer and designed software. In addition to being a voracious reader of non-fiction, he was an avid listener of public radio, attended the annual Philadelphia Folk Festivals, and walks with his faithful dog.

Upon his death, Lanny is survived by his mother; two sisters, Nanette Whitaker of Maywood, New Jersey, and Deanna Boone-Domres of Raleigh, North Carolina; and one niece, Alyssa Domres. He was preceded in death by one sister, Donna M. (Boone) Renno. In accordance with his wishes, Lanny was cremated, with his ashes to be spread in the mountains in honor of his immense respect and appreciation for nature.
