Anna married Hans Jacob Honegger(Honaker) on June 20, 1747 in Pratteln, Basellan County, Switzerland. Her husband was a struggling carpenter who had moved from Zurich to Basel and longed for the promise of the New World. Ten months later they had a baby boy and named him Hans Jacob Honegger after his father.
Hans Sr. applied to emigrate but the government process was slow. They were finally allowed to go on or about May 8, 1749, they left for America. These voyages were very rough and the conditions were deplorable. The food was scarce and what they did get was not very good. There were maybe three warm meals per week. There was a constant stench throughout the ship. Anna and her young son did not survive the crossing of the Atlantic and were buried at sea along with many others.
