James Ronald Jackson went peacefully to his heavenly home on May 17, 2019 at the age of 87. He resided in Fernandina Beach, Fla. at the time of his passing. However, he was a lifetime resident of North Carolina and always called it home.

Born May 12, 1932 in Mayodan, N.C., Jim graduated from Madison-Mayodan High School in 1950 and served in the Army in Austria as a radio operator during the Korean War. He worked for Western Electric (AT&T) in Greensboro, N.C. until his retirement in 1988. He and Ruth were members of Community in Christ Presbyterian Church in Greensboro.

Treasured by all who knew him, Jim was an honorable, kind, and generous man who traveled the world and loved his family and friends, watching sports, playing golf, the beach, dancing with Ruth, and spending time with his family. A true gentleman who remained the loving anchor for his family throughout his life. He will be missed.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, James Luther and Fannie Catherine Jackson; his brother, Bernard Jackson; and sister, Peggy (Jackson) Kiser.

He is survived by the love of his life, Ruth Ann (Sutherland) Jackson. They were married May 21, 1955 in Madison, N.C. and lived a true love story for 64 years.

Lovingly remembered by his surviving sister, Jane (Jackson) Vernon of Madison; daughters, Jane (Jackson) Hawthorne and spouse Michael Hawthorne (FL), Catherine Louise Jackson (FL), and Julianne (Jackson) Kiser and spouse Gary (AL). He was adored by his six grandchildren and their spouses, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
