Reba Irene Lovan, 91, of Galesburg, died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2019 at home.

Reba was born May 14, 1928 in Littleton, the daughter of Harrison and Jessie (Moore) Arnold. She married Claude A. Lovan on March 4, 1948 in Rushville. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1992. Reba is survived by two daughters, Jo Ellen (Harry Smith) Waymoth of Galesburg and Deborah Hoffman of Springdale, AR; and one sister, Molly Jones of Clearwater, FL. Reba is also survived by eight grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Binter, Dusti and Raymond Payne, Mandy and Lewis Smith, Stacey Broadway, Glen and Melissa Hoffman, J.C. and Pam Hoffman, Nate and Crystal Waymoth, and Christopher and Lauren Waymoth; fourteen great grandchildren, Koty(Bianka) Binter, Rebekah Binter, Kendra, KJ, and Lil Raymond Moultrie, JJ Joseph, Samantha and Trey Broadway, Jasmin, Zack, Vanessa, and Glen Russel Hoffman, Bryce and Braden Hoffman, Garrett (Allie), Baby Christopher, Nevaeh, and Gaige Waymoth, and Shawn, Kaydence, Riley, Myah, Maddison, and Harper Waymoth; along with one great great grandson, Adam Binter. Also surviving is her caregiver for 10 years, Joy Tully. Along with her husband and parents, Reba was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Mendenhall on July 19, 2005; six brothers and eleven sisters.

Reba was the housekeeper for Senator T. Mack Downing for 15 years. She then cooked at Western Illinois University for 9 years. Reba owned a restaurant in Colchester for 4 years. After moving to Galesburg Reba cooked at Knox College for 9 years and was a housekeeper in Galesburg for several years. Reba was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as president for 2 years in Macomb and 2 years in Galesburg. She served as an election judge for 10 years and was a member of the Democratic Women of Knox County. Reba enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and crafts. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all she met.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Celebration of Life at 5:00 pm at Mary Allen West Towers. Burial will be in Littleton Cemetery, Littleton, IL. Memorials may be made to the family.
