HIS FIFTIETH BIRTHDAY
A delightful surprise party was tendered Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Tucker at No. 900 Maple avenue by their friends last Tuesday evening, in honor of Mr. Tucker’s 50th birthday. The host and hostess were taken by complete surprise, but opened the spacious parlors and welcomed the guests in the most hospitable manner. The early part of the evening was spent in listening to the choice program that had been prepared. Mrs. Barnes opened the entertainment with a piano solo, which she executed in splendid style. A recitation byMiss Cora white, “A Letter to God” followed, given in a very pleasing manner. A violin solo by Mr. Prudon, a recitation by (daughter-in-law) Mrs. Jeannette Harwood-Tucker, a violin and guitar duet by Prof. and Mrs. Castillion, who were deservedly encored, and a recitation by little (daughter) Nellie Tucker were much enjoyed. Dancing followed and was continued until a late hour, after which refreshments were served. Those present (other than the above mentioned) were Mrs. C. A. Baldwin, Mrs. J. L.
