Hugh Kay “Kayo” Ashe, 67, of Addison Hill Road, a man who will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, father , grandfather, brother and also a cherished friend to many, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Wednesday, April 27, 2016.

Mr. Ashe was born Aug. 21, 1948 in Haywood County to the late Claude Ashe and the late Ruby Gantt Ashe. He was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a combat medic. He had been employed with PYA Food Service, Powell Lumber Company and Norris Concrete as a truck driver. Mr. Ashe held a strong faith and was a member of Rescue Baptist Church. Kayo was a talented artist and his beautiful drawings were admired by many. He enjoyed bringing laughter and joy to others and he always brought a smile to those around him. Kayo will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Clark.

Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Rose Kuykendall Ashe; a daughter, Lisa Ashe Gibson and her husband, Jimmy Gibson of Canton; a son, Jeffrey Ashe and his wife, Sabrina Ashe of Canton; grandchildren, Dylan Gibson, Jessica Gibson, Joshua Owenby and Jeffrey Ashe; a sister, Jeanette Poston of Canton ; brothers, Scott Ashe of Canton and David Ashe of Candler and a host of friends that loved him dearly.

A private service for Mr. Ashe will be held at a later date.
