Malvin M. “Bud” Johnston, 92, of Indiana (formerly of Curry Run) went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 11, 2018 while at Communities of Indian Haven. .

The son of Malvin and Hattie (Bell) Johnston, he was born March 18, 1926 in Curry Run, Clearfield County.

Malvin was of the Protestant Faith and was a veteran of WWII have served in the US Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.

Mr. Johnston retired from Penelec in 1988 after 30 years of employment.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed his camp along the Susquehannah River in Clearfield County. He was also a member of the Mesquito Creek Sportsmen Club.

Surviving are his two daughters, Cindy Zundel and her husband Kevin of Indiana and Debra Johnston of Lumber City, PA; three grandchildren James Uber, Clymer, William Altmeyer and his wife Jenna, Somerset, and Zachary Zundel, Indiana; five great grandchildren, Jim Uber IV and Haleigh Uber both of Clymer, Casey, Samantha, and Max Altmeyer all of Somerset; two sisters Ethel Jane Hartman, Clearfield and Mary Ann Lingle and her husband Melvin, Clearfield.

Preceding Malvin in death were his parents; wife Barbara (McCully) Johnston whom he wed July 22, 1950 in Cumberland, MD; a brother, Preston V. Johnston Sr. and his wife Dorothy.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana. A memorial service will immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Pastor Bruce Dimmick, officiating. Military rites will be provided by the VFW Post 1989.

A private interment will be conducted in the Lumber City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy in Malvin’s honor may be made by donating a book to a library of your choice.
