Margaret Louise Taylor Trantham, age 96, entered into the arms of the angels on Thursday, November 17, 2016.

Mrs. Trantham was born November 5, 1920 in Buncombe County to the late Charles H. Taylor, Sr. and the late Ida Reece Taylor. She was a graduate of Black Mountain High School where she was an outstanding basketball player during the years of 1936 and 1937 and was also a member of the Thickety Community Basketball League. She had resided in Haywood County, later moving to South Carolina where she and her husband together enjoyed farming for 35 years before returning to Haywood County in 2005. Mrs. Trantham was indeed a dedicated gardener, raising multitudes of vegetables and also taking care of her green houses. She was a wonderful cook and always had something delicious prepared for anyone who might stop by for a visit. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the WMU, taught Training Union and also taught vacation bible school. Mrs. Trantham deeply loved her family and her precious memory will forever be held in each of their hearts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Grady Trantham, who passed away in 2011; brothers, Charles H. Taylor, Jr. and Robert Taylor and a sister, Grace McBroom.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, Sam Trantham and his wife, Becky Trantham of Canton; grandchildren, Major Josh Trantham, USAF and his wife, Stefanie Trantham of Cameron, NC, Samantha Stamey and her husband, Wes Stamey of Charlotte, NC, Zack Trantham and his wife, Kayla Trantham of Arden, NC, Abby Demetris and her husband, Robert Demetris of Arden, NC, Matt Reid of Greensboro, NC and Katie Ballard and her husband, Jason Ballard of Zirconia, NC; great-grandchildren, Carter, Coleman, Wyatt, Sawyer, Brenna, Adelynn, Anna Marie and Finley; a brother, Carl Taylor and his friend, Louree of Hendersonville, NC and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2016 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Burial will follow at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Serving as pallbearers will be Zack Trantham, Wes Stamey, Mark Trantham, Robert Taylor, Robert Demetris and Johnny Trantham.
