William Thomas Colbert, age 89, passed away Tuesday July 9, 2019 at his home.

He was born January 7, 1930 in McNairy County, the son of the late Johnny Veston and Janie Mozelle Crowe Colbert. He attended McNairy County schools. He was drafted for the US Army in 1951. He was in the Korean War as a part of the 7th Infantry division and was a Corporal in rank. He was discharged on December 13, 1952. After being discharged, he moved to Memphis where he drove a MTA bus for 20 years. He married Golda Ruth Coyle of Chester County in 1955. They lived in Memphis for 18 years before moving to their home in the Plainview Community of Chester County in 1973. He bought Chester Implement Tractor in Henderson, where he was the owner and operator until around 2005. He was a farmer who also enjoyed gardening, and ultimately loved being outside. He was a member of Cabo Baptist Church and served as treasurer and Deacon for over 39 years.

W.T. is survived by his wife, Golda Ruth Colbert; three sons, Tommy Colbert (Donna), Tim Colbert, and Dale Colbert (Anjay); seven grandchildren; Celene Seals, Brandon Colbert, Lauren Colbert, Kaitlyn Colbert, Emily Colbert, Rheanna Colbert and Dalton Colbert; one brother, Junior Colbert of Memphis; and one sister, Mildred Lee of Memphis.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ima Joe Hughes.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, July 12, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – East Main Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Geary and Johnny Bullman officiating. Burial will follow in the Sweetlips Cemetery.
