Mrs. Hughes, who was born July 8, 1928, in Sweet Lips, Tenn., the daughter of Johnnie and Janie (Crowe) Colbert, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, in Walnut Ridge Health Care, Springfield. Interment will be in Avon Centre Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Larry W. (Theresa) Hughes, of Divernon; her daughters, Reba J. Verhunce, of Round Lake Park, and Donna (William) Clifford, of Kenosha, Wis.; her brothers, William Thomas (Golda Ruth) Colbert, of Henderson, Tenn., and J. V. (Mary Ruth) Colbert, of Memphis, Tenn.; her sister, Mildred (Vernon) Lee, of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one greatstepgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, on May 26, 1993, whom she married on Dec. 18, 1947, in Blytheville, Ark.
