Wanda Iris Warren Lund
August 19, 1919 ~ July 4, 2019

Wanda Iris Warren Lund, Age 99, died July 4th , 2019 of causes incident to age. She would have been 100 on August 19. Born in Hiawatha, Utah. Wanda also lived in Price, Spring Canyon, Salt Lake City, Layton, Mount Pleasant , Clearfield and Mesa Arizona. She spent time in all of these towns until finally building the family home in Clearfield, where she lived for close to 70 years; Snowbirding to Mesa for the last 17 years.

Before she retired, she was a photo-journalist and reporter for the Deseret News (including being the Do-it Man columnist for several years) and Davis County Clipper. She also worked for the Utah Job Corps, McKay-Dee Hospital and Hermes & Associates. Wanda was a member and one time president of the Blue Quill chapter of the League of Utah Writers.

After retiring, she enjoyed social interaction with residents of Valle del Oro retirement community (The Moonlighters and Creative Writing) She cherished her long term friendship with June Krambule. They often spent time singing old songs together.

She spent her last four months at Canyon Creek Senior Living Center. Our thanks go out to them as well as the loving people from Hospice for Utah for their kindness and concern, which made her last few months more comfortable.

Wanda loved writing, conversing with people, poetry, photography and always keeping busy. She was a very generous with her family and friends. As a person, she was a positive thinker, curious, confident and caring – selflessly offering love and support. She was also strong willed and never afraid of a good debate.

When asked if she could only leave three pieces of wisdom to her posterity, she responded:

1. Keep an open mind.
2. Keep an open mind.
3. Keep an open mind and be kind.

She is pre-deceased by her son Roger Arlen Lund, daughter Diana Lund, husband Donald True Lund and after Donald’s death, life partner Frank Lushinsky.

She is survived by her children, Janet Lund, Scott Lund (Angie), Kerry Lund, Karleen Logan (Rick) and Craig Lund (Rosario) along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a private celebration of Wanda’s life for family and friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday August 17th at the family home: 565 S, 500 East St. , Clearfield, Utah.
