Dean Roger Rohrer, born June 13, 1930, was known as a prankster throughout his life. After growing up in the small town of Wakarusa, he joined the United States Navy, where he met his future wife, Rosalie Ardelan, who was also in the Navy. They married August 2, 1952, and together they had two children, Gloria (Rohrer) Frank, and Ramona Rohrer. Rosalie preceeded him in death, as well as his sister Harriet, and brother Carl. He also left behind three grandchildren, Jason Frank, Deana Rohrer, and Ryan Rohrer.

Dean suffered from cancer, and while living in a hospice in Michigan, passed on November 3, 2007.

PIERSON, Fla. -- A memorial service for Dean R. Rohrer will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Pastor Charles Weaver will officiate. Burial will be in Olive (West) Cemetery.

Mr. Rohrer, 76, of Pierson, formerly of Wakarusa, Ind., died Nov. 3, 2006, in Michigan.

He was born June 13, 1930, in Wakarusa to Roy and Pearl (Bechtel) Rohrer. In 1952, he married Rosalie Ardelan. She died in 1972.

He is survived by two daughters, Gloria Frank of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Ramona Rohrer of Nappanee, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Harriet Atkins Taylor; and one brother, Carl Rohrer.

Mr. Rohrer was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Ave Maria Press at the University of Notre Dame and also worked at Division Printing in Waterford, Mich. He was able to do anything from sewing to drafting, woodworking to stained glass, plumbing, electrical work and almost anything in between.
