"The death of Frank N. Bliss, a highly esteemed resident of Whig Corners and a life-long citizen of Otsego county, occurred at his home in the town of Middlefield near this village, at midnight on Thursday of last week, following a period of declining health which had extended over the past year. Four weeks preceding his passing he suffered a severe heart attack from which complications developed, and he sank gradually until the end. Mr. Bliss was the son of William and Celestia (Chase) Bliss and he was born in the town of Hartwick, June 16, 1866. On September 25, 1889, he was united in marriage with Miss DeFrankie Elliott of Morris. Their entire married life had been passed in the town of Middlefield, and for the past thirty years they had lived on the Whig Corners farm where his death occurred. He was a man of sterling character, a valued citizen and a good neighbor, and a wide circle of friends will feel a keen sense of personal regret at his passing. Surviving, besides the widow, are a sister, Mrs. William Prentiss of Ilion; a brother William N. Bliss of Toddsville; two daughters, Mrs. Lorren E. Pierce of Cooperstown and Mrs. Harris G. Clark of Whig Corners; one son, Claude E. Bliss of Whig Corners, eleven grand children and several nieces and nephews. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home, the Rev. H. M. Pease, pastor of the Baptist church of Cooperstown, officiating. The body was placed in the vault at Lakewood cemetery for interment later." [The Freeman's Journal (Cooperstown, NY), Mar. 24, 1937, Page 2]
