Veronica was the last of the eleven children of Alsatian immigrants Joseph Schaaf and Franciska Cecilia (called Frances) Stimmler Schaaf. Her parents had met in Philadelphia and married in Manayunk in 1855; their first child was born there but the others were born in Minnesota, initially in Carver County (Lake Town) and later in Swift County (Dublin), where Veronica was born. She appears with her family in the 1880 census in Dublin, at age 5, on 8th June 1880. There are no further records of her and she is thought to have died about 1885, about the time the family moved from Dublin to Murdock, MN.
