Mrs. Earline Marie Bentley Lail, 83, formerly of Hickory, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 at Conover Nursing & Rehab Center.
She was born Feb. 17, 1923 in Watauga County, the daughter of the late Roby Dewey and Ollie Mae Bentley.
Mrs. Lail had worked in the hosiery industry and was a member of Bethlehem Church of God.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Ann L. Johnson and husband, Jimmy Ray, of Hickory; Donna Lynn Pope and husband, Jerry, of Granite Falls; sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin G. "Sonny" Lail of Newton; Dallas Eugene "Gene" Lail and wife, Gale, of Byhalia, MS; Lonnie D. Lail and wife, Marilyn, of Hickory; Ricky W. Lail of Hickory; sisters, Maggie Hicks of Bethlehem, Brenda Cornett of Vilas, N.C.; Katie Sue Shore of Boone, N.C.; brothers, Lewis Bentley of Hickory; Robert Bentley of Vilas, N.C.; Billy Bentley of Vilas, N.C.; Sam Bentley of Vilas, N.C.; Ned Bentley of Boone, N.C.; 15 Grandchildren, Jimmy Johnson, Jr., Donna Johnson Heavner, Melea Glen Lail, Marina Gay Kelly, Marisa Setzer, Merrie Ann Boltin, Dawn Lail, Lonnie D. Lail, Jr., Matthew S. Lail, Troy W. Bumgarner, Angela B. Church, Brandon W. Lail, Heath P. Lail, April L. Childress, and Chad W. Lail; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Troy Pardue Lail; a brother, Reed Bentley; and a daughter-in-law, Sarah Lail.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Bethlehem Church of God. Rev. Howard Smith will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
