She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on June 19, 1936, to Oscar Hooker and Eva Shaffer Hooker.
Shirley was a lifelong resident of Vigo County. Shirley was a homebody. She loved collecting knickknacks and porcelain dolls. Shirley loved to cook and she was great at it; her specialties were fried chicken and yeast rolls. She always made the yeast rolls for the firehouse. She loved her grandkids and her children. She loved Christmas, Christmas in July, and QVC shopping network. Shirley joins the rest of her family who has passed including her trusty companion, Coco.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Gerald Hoover Mclin, who passed on April 27 of 1992; they were married in 1955; and 3 brothers precede her as well as 4 sisters.
She is survived by sons, Steve Mclin (Pam), Mike Mclin (Darla), Rodney Mclin (Karen), Tim Mclin (Lori), David Mclin, and Jerry Mclin; daughter, Tammy Hoopingarner (Paco); sister, Mary Loudermilk; and brother-in-law, Bob Hansen; grandchildren, Tiffany, Steven, Michael, Candice, Daniel, Kimberly, Joshua, Lacey, Dylin, David, Shelby, Brayton, and Dawson; and several great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is scheduled for June 29, 2019, at 2 PM, in the Burnett Firehouse. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, In., was entrusted with arrangements.
