Alosson B. Shattuck, 97, passed away at his home in the village Sunday evening. Mr. Shattuck has been in poor health for some time, but was taken worse last week. Mr. Shattuck was the oldest resident of Bloomingdale township and celebrated his 97th birthday last Thursday, June 23. He was born in Yates county, New York June 23, 1835, but has resided in Michigan since 1843, and has been a resident of this community most of the time for 60 years. He was united in marriage March 24, 1878, to Miss Helen Remington, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Remington, Sr., early pioneer residents of this community. Mr. Shattuck is survived by his faithful wife who has lovingly cared for him during his long illness, also two sons and two daughters, Charles Shattuck of Bangor, Maine, Mrs. Effie Hart of Trenton, New Jersey, Miss Claribelle Shattuck of Indianapolis, Ind. and Rex Shattuck of Grand Rapids. Funeral services were held from the Christian church at this place Wednesday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, with the pastor, Reverend Charles Pease, officiating. Burial was at Spring Grove Cemetery.
