She had been bedfast for over a year, due to infirmities of her advanced age.
Born in Parchim (Mecklenberg) Germany, December 11, 1854, she was a daughter of Henry and Sophia Spangenberg. When about three years of age she crossed into Canada with her parents where she resided until the age of seventeen. At that time she came to Sturgis where she has resided ever since.
In September 1876, she was united in marriage to Henry Shank in Burr Oak who died in 1901. She later married Earnest Weiderman, January 15, 1903, who preceded her in death in 1935.
Mrs. Weiderman was confirmed into the Lutheran faith in Ontario, Canada, in 1871, and since her long residence here she had been a continuous active member in St. John's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are three sons: Charles Shank, Leo Shank and Edward Shank, a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Sager, all of Sturgis; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Seeler of South Bend and Carrie Miller of Sturgis, and four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Shank, 202 Washington St., where a prayer service will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. followed by rites at St. John's Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. H. H. Hoenecke officiating.
Interment will be made in Oaklawn Cemetery.
