He was born November 9, 1923 in Lancaster, MO to Robert James and Leona Pearl White Bodkins. Hobert married Helen Maxine Blodgett on January 21, 1943 and she preceded him in death on April 24, 1999.
A graduate of Lancaster High School, Hobert was a WWII veteran having served with the U.S. Army 3rd Division under General George Patton and was in the European Theatre.
He farmed most of his life and worked at several factory jobs.
Surviving are his children, Leona Arnold of Hedrick, Nancy (Jerry) Lankford of Richland, Wanda (Rich) Perkins of Wapello, William “Bill” (Stephanie) Bodkins of Willington, CO; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Irene Bodkins of West Chester; a sister-in-law, Doris Bodkins; and a brother-in-law, John Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by 3 sons, James Junior Bodkins, Robert Lowell Bodkins and Kenneth Dale Bodkins; a grandson and 3 great granddaughters.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Bodkins officiating. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
