AVIS MASON ARP
Funeral services for Mrs. Avis Mason Arp, 94, were held Saturday, Sept. 12 at Heisel & Koch Funeral Chapel in Brunswick. Mrs. Arp died Wednesday evening, Sept. 9, 1992 at the Pioneer Health Center in Marceline.
She was born Sept. 7, 1898 in Hiattsville, Iowa, the daughter of William O. and Flora E. (Main) Hiatt. She was married in 1917 to Everett Mason, who died in 1928. She later married Ernest Arp on Dec. 23, 1929, who preceded her in death in 1967. She lived most of her married life in the Indian Grove community and was a member of the Zion Quilting Club, the Friendship Wheel and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Arp was a charter member of the Indian Grove Community Aid and Merry Mixers Club.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Mason of Illiopolis, Illinois, and Donald Arp of Brunswick; one daughter, Jeannine Stutsman of Mobile, Alabama; three sisters, Bernice Pangrac and Edie Hiatt of Junction City, Kansas, and Juanita Kieth of Clinton, Iowa; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Arp was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.
Burial was in Elliot Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Dr. Paul Mason, Dr. Bruce Mason, Larry Arp, Steven Arp, Brent Arp, Joel Stutsman, Nick Stutsman, and Sam Stutsman.
