Tyler Hyrum Barton, 88, much loved father and grandfather, passed away May 7, 1984 in Salt Lake City.
Born March 29, 1896 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hyrum and Laura Berry Barton. Married Elsie Layton, February 24, 1926 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, she preceded him in death, October 21, 1983.
He was a foreman with Utah State Road commission for many years. Became a cement contractor in the early 50's. Many of Salt Lake's beautiful buildings are a testimony of his skill as a contractor, such as the Capitol Building, Highland High School, and Olympus High School. Member of the LDS Church, High Priest in the Parleys 4th Ward. He served on LDS Mission to England in 1921. Veteran of World War I. Served in the Engineers Corp in France. Very loving and artistic father.
Survived by one son, and three daughters, Rex L. Barton, Seattle, Washington; Mrs. Donald S. (Joyce) Austin, and Mrs. Edward D. (Lucille) Barnes, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Orell Shan (Barbara) Davis, Santa Barbara, California; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, preceded in death by one son, John Tyler Barton, and two sisters, Ethel and Lolla.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 11, 1984 at 12 noon at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
