Funeral of Mrs. Choate

We last week made brief mention of the recent death of Mrs. Blanche A. Choate (nee Hughes) formerly a well known Coschocton girl. The following from the Saugus, Mass. Herald gives an account of her funeral.
"The funeral of Mrs. Blanche A. Choate, daughter of Mr. W. H. Hughes, of Colo. Springs, Colo., and wife of Mr. F. W. Choate, who died on Jan. 25th, aged 23 years, 4 months, and 2 days, took place on Monday the 29th. The service was conducted by Rev. George S. Painter, pastor of the M. E. Church, and Rev. C. W. Blackett, pastor of the M. E. Church at Natick, of which she was a member. Appropriate selections were rendered by a Quartette composed of Mr. and Mrs. Richardson, of Cliftondale, and Mr. and Mrs. Jennison, of Natick. Although Mr. and Mrs. Choate had only resided here about three months, the deceased had won the esteem of many of the people, consequently the solemn service was largely attended by residents and also by many from places where she had formerly lived. There were many beautiful floral tributes: A bunch of 23 white roses from the Misses Hickock; bouquet, M.E. Church, Natick; Mr. Wait of Boston; pillow marked "Sister," Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Choate, Skodac (sic Schodack), N. Y.; white roses, Dr. and Mrs. French, of Milford; pinks, Mr. and Mrs. Tripp, Natick; pinks and smilacs, Mrs. Jennison, Natick; bouquet, Misses Dunham, Cochrane and Sjolander, Boston. Mrs. Choate leaves a husband and a young babe. Mrs. Choate's mother came from Colorado to attend the obsequies.

NOTE: she died two days after the birth of her daughter Dorothy.

Poem
After Twenty Years
I saw her beauty, traced in thought and deed,
As child, as maiden, and was wedded wife,
I saw her gentle ways, unclouded faith,
Her girlish sweetness, gladsome joys of life.

I saw her glorified in motherhood,
Madonna, with her child upon her breast,
I saw her rapt, transfigured. Then He passed.
I saw her bravely patient, God possessed.

I saw her living, aureoled in light,
Dispelling shadows, as the sunshine does,
I saw her go to death and falter not,
God hold me true, because of what she was.
