Cyril Leroyed Curtis was born in Aurora, Utah February 7, 1913, the 6th child of Wallace Curtis and Amanda Elizabeth Watson. He was inducted into the U.S. Military in Salt Lake City July 29, 1942. He married Bessie Stilson (1915-1969) August 2, 1933 in Green River. Together they had a daughter: Norma Joann Curtis (1934-1991). He married Mabel M. Stevens (1917-1997) January 1, 1943. Together they had two daughters: Charissa Bowling of Spokane and Debra Curtis of Preston, Idaho.
Completing his earthly mission Monday, June 19, 1995 at age 82 in Spokane, Washington, a memorial graveside service was held at Riverside Memorial Park on Saturday June 24th.
Cyril was a member of Shadle Park Presbyterian Church and the Steelworkers Union. Living in Spokane for more than 47 years, he retired in 1979 after 35 years of employment as a potman from Kaiser Aluminum in Mead.
Growing up on a Green River, Utah watermelon farm, he was one of the twelve seniors who graduated from high school in 1931. While in high school he participated in basketball and was involved in drama.
Besides his wife of 53 years and two daughters, his survivors include a brother, Nolan Curtis of Green River, Utah and five sisters: Arvilla Ward of Everett, Washington, Thelma Anderson of Salt Lake City, Wynona Wilson of Clearfield, Utah, Verla Lowe of Green River and Clella Ross of Provo, Utah; seven grandchild and three great grandchildren.
