Hillard B. Fitzwater, age 82, of Carlisle, Kentucky, husband of the late Eva Hawkins Fitzwater, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010, at his home. He was born March 3, 1928, in Cynthiana, Kentucky, to the late Orie Howard and Ada Lee Turner Fitzwater. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired foreman/supervisor with CSX Railroad.

He is survived by: one son, Randall Fitzwater, of Virginia; six daughters, Lavona Fitzwater, of Frankfort, Ida Lee Cornish, of Lawrenceburg, Amy Fitzwater, of Carlisle, Billy Jo Fitzwater, of Mt. Sterling, Patricia Kearns, of Cynthiana, and Alice Clifford, of Carlisle; one sister, Jo Ann Hurt, of Symsonia; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by: one son, H.B. Fitzwater, Jr.; two brothers, Charles Fitzwater and Harlan Fitzwater; and a sister, Rowena F. Bates.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Keith Sayre. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
