Kentucky New Era obit posted 07 Apr 1995 reads as follows:

Charles Carroll Fitzwater, 70, Cadiz, died at 2:35pm Thursday at Shady Lawn Nursing Center, Cadiz, following an illness.

Services will be at 2:30pm Sunday at Goodwin Funeral Home with the Revs. Gerald Baker and Joel Frizzell officiating and burial in East End Cemetery. Military rites will take place at graveside.

Visitation will begin at 4pm Saturday at the funeral home.

A native of Cynthiana, he was born Sept. 4, 1924, son of the late Orie Howard and Ada Lee Turner Fitzwater. He was retired from Hoover Universal, where he was employee relations manager for 22 years.

Fitzwater was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and a World War II Army veteran. During his service, he received several medals, among them the Purple Heart and Victory Medal.

He later became a charter member and post commander of the Cadiz-Trigg County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. In addition, he was post senior vice commander of the district and of the American Legion Post No. 27. Fitzwater was a member of the Trigg County Booster Club, the Cadiz-Trigg County UK Alumni Association and the Trigg County Industrial Committee.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Joy Fitzwater; a son, David Howard Fitzwater, Cadiz; a daughter, Betty Jane Sexton, Symsonia; a brother, Hillard Fitzwater, Cynthiana; a sister, Jo Ann Hurt, Nicholsville' and five grandsons and a step-grandson.
