Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Mary Jane Murphy was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Robbs, Ill., the daughter of Thomas B. and Lizzie Trigg Murphy. She married Arnold L. Phelps April 8, 1939, in Paducah, Ky.
Survivors include the widower; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and James Carr, Port Byron; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Suzanne Phelps, Port Byron; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Lennie Johns, Willowbrook, Ill., June Street, Ozark, Ill., and Pauline Brown, Bloomington, Ill.; and brothers, Byron Murphy, Lebanon, Ten., Thomas Murphy, Peoria Heights, and Kenneth Murphy, Orland Park, Ill.
