"Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Lanier Lovejoy,78,who died Wednesday night after an extended illness, were held in the Pierce Memorial Methodist Church on Friday at 4:00P.M. with the Rev. Glenn S. Bedford and the Rev. Kenneth Gaskin officiating. She was the widow of the late Mr. Dorsey (Dawsie- per Gail) B. Lovejoy. Burial was in the Sparta cemetery with Patterson Funeral home in charge.
Although a native of Jackson County, Mrs. Lovejoy had lived in Hancock County and Sparta for many years where she had many friends who are grieved at her passing. She was a member of the Methodist church and a beloved citizen.
Surviving are two daughters. Mrs. Douglas Tanner and Mrs. C.V. Johnson, both of Sparta. One brother, George Lanier of Winter Haven, Flordia. Four sisters; Mrs. Homer Mills( correction by Gail- this is suppose to be Mrs. Homer Hill) of Winder; Mrs J.J. Smith of White Plains, Mrs. Lyle Ethridge of Warthen, Mrs.George Barron, of Winder. Two grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren.
The pallbearers were E.L. Lovejoy,Joe S. Davis,Jr.,Thomas Sigman,German Chanell,Lester Johnson, and T, Miller.
