Clyde Archie "Bub" Mathis JR., 58, died May 30, 2007, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO.
He was born Sept. 26, 1948, in Leeper, MO., son of the late Clyde and Mabel (Agnew) Mathis.
Mr. Mathis served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Viet-Nam era. He had worked in a saw mill as log turner. He was a Christian.
He is survived by two sons, Larry (Casey) Mathis, Virginia Beach, Va., Michael (fiancee Christine Wilcox) Mathis, Piedmont; one daughter, Lori Lloyd, Piedmont; two half brothers, Bill Mathis, Milwaukee, Wis., Jerry (Nancy) Mathis, St. Louis; nine half sisters, Gladys Mathis, St. Louis, Anna Mae Brown, Santa Rosa, Calif., Joyce Johnson, Piedmont, Mary Lou Beckenbach, Ellsinore, Myrtle Wyatt, Mill Spring, Hattie (Jake) Messmer, Imperial, Martha (Ray) Buxton, High Ridge, Helen Hackworth, Annapolis, Imogene Prince,St. Charles; five grandchildren, Devin, Kayleigh and Emily Mathis, Hayden Williams and Skyla Shaffer.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard "Rick" Lee Mathis, Gary Wayne Mathis, three half brothers, Jim Mathis, Joy Britt and Clarence Britt, one half sister, Thelma Buffington.
The funeral was held June 2 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Elder Bob Webb officiating. Reflections were given by his son, Larry Mathis.
Pallbearers were Joey McAllister, Jamie McAllister, James Brinkley, Hunter Sheets, John Mathis and calvin Morris. Honorary pallbearer was Bud Brinkley. graveside military honors were provided by the U.S. Navy and Southeast Missouri Veterans Honor Guard. Burial was in Clay Cemetery, Piedmont.
