Funeral services for Harold Winston Skidmore, 86, of Palestine will be at Southside Baptist Church with Pastor David English officiating. Military and Masonic graveside serices will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery.
He was born to Arland Grand Skidmore and Annie Maude Chaffin Skidmore. Harold was retired from the US Navy agter 30 years of service. He moved to Palestine in 1975 and was an active member of Southside Baptist Church. He had worked for Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Eilenberger's Bakery and was currently a volunteer at Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #31 of Palestine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat Skidmore and former wife, Elizabeth Skidmore; sister, Treva Finch; son, Dwight "Butch" Skidmore; and daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Pancake and Kent Pancake.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Skidmore; step-daughters, Tracy Betz and Laura Upshaw; sister, Neva Jean Trahan; grandchildren, Stacy Braun, Beckie Fisher, Jay Motes, Joanna Wilson-Jordan, Yvonne Hull, Elizabeth Pancake, Tricia Walker-Miller, Makensie Olive, Taelor Maciel, Brandon Maciel and Christian Moore; 16 great grandchildren and numerous extended family.
