Bromley will be forever remembered and cherished by his best friend and wife of 58 years, Jurlean; his daughter Vanessa Poston, his son-in-law Keith, his granddaughter Cecilia; brother-in-law Richard Sessoms; sisters Merle Thornton Lockerman and Faye Pope Finger as well as numerous nieces and nephews he loved like his own children.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ellie and Annie Pope; sisters Elma Pope Drew and Shirley Pope Rudy, and brother H. Dennis Pope.
Bromley was born in Magnolia, NC, on March 22, 1928. He lived there until moving to Surf City in 1989. He was the "baby" in a family of six children. He was devoted to his parents, sisters, brothers and their children. He met his future wife in second grade when she decided she was going to marry him. They tied the knot on June 4, 1952 and honeymooned at White Lake. Theirs was a true-blue love story for the ages.
Bromley served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1945-1948 and was in the Army Occupation of Japan. He was a carpenter and mason who built homes throughout eastern North Carolina. Later, he taught vocational education in Duplin County Public Schools, retiring in 1989.
