Mrs. Adeline M. Howland, wife of Dea. Seth Howland, died in Bridgewater, N. Y., in the early morning of July 4th, 1884. She was the daughter of Theodore and Sarah Monroe, and was born in Vermont in 1820. In 1832 she came to Bridgewater, where she was married in 1840. The children surviving her are Monroe Howland of Breckenridge, Mich., Mrs. H.H. Elliot of Brookfield, N.Y., Mrs. M. L. Knight of Sauquoit, and Harvey J. Howland of Bridgewater. Mrs. Howland was a person of warm heart, generous impulse, and quick sympathy, hence, at all times she was ready to minister to the needy and suffering. Her intellect was clear and acute, her disposition was cheerful and therefore she was a favorite in the social circle. She was a disciple of Christ, following her Lord and Master with Christian humanity and in Christian charity. A friend of Christ's church, a friend of her fellow-men, earnest in duty and helpful in all relationships of her life. Mrs. Howland will be sorely missed by her family, by her many friends and acquaintances and by her Christian bretheren.
