Artie Uriah "Art" Miner was born Thursday, March 15, 1906 in Fairview, Utah to Albert Uriah Miner and Eliza Estella Day.

He graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1927 and after three years of college at Brigham Young University, left for an LDS Mission to the Eastern States Mission. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Brigham Young University in 1928, and then earned his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Chicago Law School.

On June 29, 1932, he married Blanche Thomas, of Spanish Fork, Utah, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Art was a longtime resident of the Foothill neighborhood of Salt Lake City, residing at 966 South Military Drive (1692 East) from 1932 until 1962, and at 1104 South Bonneville Drive (2700 East) from 1962 until his death.

He practiced law in Salt Lake City for the next ten years and became a member of the law firm of Irvine, Skeen, Thurman, and Miner. He later served two years as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Utah and taught night classes for five years in Commercial and Banking Law under the auspices of the American Institute of Banking.

Art joined the legal staff of the Union Pacific Railroad in 1944 as Assistant General Attorney for the State of Idaho, residing two years in Pocatello. He returned to Salt Lake in the same capaciy for the State of Utah and progressed to General Attorney, Assistant General Solicitor, and General Solicitor for the States of Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Arizona. Art handled the lobby work for the Union Pacific Railroad at the Utah State Legislature for twenty-five years.

The Commercial Bank of Utah, whose eight branches later merged with First Security Bank, was incorporated by Art and he was retained on the legal staff of that institution until his retirement.

Art was active in The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, filling many positions, but his special interest was his twenty year service with the Boy Scouts.

He was a charter member of the Bonneville Knife and Fork Club and an active member of the Rotary Club for nearly thirty years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and a sincere and true friend. He will be remembered by all who knew him.

Art passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 1988 at his home of complications from cancer. He was 82 years old.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, April 19, 1988 at 12:00 p.m. in the Monument Park Seventeenth Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 2795 East Crestview Drive (1000 South) in Salt Lake City. A visitation was held on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary located at 2350 East 1300 South in Salt Lake City, and at the Church one hour prior to the services.
Following the conclusion of the Funeral Services, the funeral procession commenced and solemnly and slowly proceeded through the Foothill neighborhood of Salt Lake City, the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City, and East Millcreek and concluded at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park located at 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East) in East Millcreek, where Art was laid to rest.
