TAYLORSVILLE - Alfred William Greene Sr., 75, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10,
2010, in Lenoir after a six-month period of declining health. He was born May 23,
1934, to William McKinley Greene and Rosezall Phelps Greene in Caldwell County.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise Walker
Greene, and a son, Alfred William Greene Jr. Alfred attended Temple Hill Baptist
Church. He retired from Shuford Mills, where he had worked 23 years.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory include three sons, Russell Greene and wife,
Sheila, and Jimmy Greene and Danny Ray Greene and wife, Belinda. all of Bethlehem;
one daughter, Derbra Greene Kerley and husband, Monroe, of Lenoir; four grandsons,
Nick Greene and wife, Crystal, Nathan Greene, James Greene and Raymond Williams
and wife, Tina; two granddaughters, Anglea Greene and Jessica Greene; four great-
grandchildren, Nathan, Jr., Dillion, Dalton and Desiree; two brothers-in-law, Neal Walk-
er and wife, Kathy, and Roger Walker; one sister-in-law, Reba Austin; and a number of
nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, from 12:30 to 2:00 at Alexander
Funeral & Cremation Service. The funeral will follow at 2:00 in the Alexander Funeral
Service chapel. The Rev. Neal Walker will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Me-
morial Park.
