Graveside services for H.F. (Jess) Dowdy, 73, retired banker, will be at 1 p.m. today at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens with the Rev. James Sewell officiating. Mr. Dowdy died Friday in Saint Thomas Hospital. The body is at Martin’s Bracey-Welsh Funeral Home. Mr. Dowdy, who lived at 501 Acklen Park Drive, was retried from First American Bank’s finance department and had worked there from 1955 to 1977. Previously he was employed by Hippodrome Oldsmobile and the old Seventh Avenue Motors. He was a native of Martin, Tenn., the son of Jesse Levi Dowdy and Mattie Wes Dowdy. Mr. Dowdy was a member of the West End United Methodist Church and the Elks Club. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Cantrell Dowdy; two daughters, Jean B. Barrett and Judy D. Marchetti, both of Nashville; three sisters, Sarah King and Ruby Mae Jones, both of Dyer, Tenn., and Rachel Hilt, Lansing Mich.; and six grandchildren.
