MARTIN - Mrs. Martha Dowdy Foy, 64, of 218 Sterling Street, Martin, was pronounced dead on arrival Monday afternoon at Volunteer General Hospital in Martin (March 12, 1984).
Services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Martin, with the Rev. Tom Atwood officiating. Burial was in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
Pallbearers were Tom Stuart, Gene Harris, Barry Harris, Burnett Thompson, M. U. Pentecost, Bob Peeler, Harold Spikes and Harley Griffin, Jr.
Born August 25, 1919, in Tennessee, she was a former employee of Merry Lee Shop and Sears in Martin and was a member of Martin First Baptist Church.
She leaves her husband, Byron Foy of Martin; a brother, Hubert Dowdy of Nashville and three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Mae Jones and Mrs. Sarah King, both of Dyer, and Mrs. Rachael Hilts of Lansing, Michigan.
