Chester Theo Hennington Buddy Hennington, 73, of Pachuta, walked through the Gates of Pearl into the Lord’s waiting arms on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at sunrise. He was born on Sept. 9, 1940 in Quitman to the late Chester D. Hennington and Mildred Bell Williams Hennington. He attended high school in Sulphur, La., where he was a chosen as a member of the 1957 Pelican Boys State House of Representatives, he graduated in 1958. He furthered his education at JCJC and USM, where he was on various sports teams and involved in musical pursuits, he earned a B.S. in Medical Technology. He married Annie Irene (Rene) Bishop on April 8, 1960. The couple went on to have four children together, as well as many ‘adopted children’ throughout their community. Buddy worked in various professions throughout his life, from a pipeliner and horse trainer, to a lab tech and musician, he was a true jack-of-all- trades. He worked at Jeff Andersons Regional Medical Center for eighteen years. His love of music was handed down by his parents, Buddy was known for his zealous piano playing, and the family band he started with his wife and children. With this band he traveled all over the Southeast USA to play shows. The family made a home in Nashville, Tenn. for a time, before relocating to Jasper County. Music remained a mainstay in Buddy’s life, and his home was always filled with the joyous harmonies of his piano and voice. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Rene Hennington; four children, Theresa (William) Thompson-Griffin of Quitman, Fred (Valerie) Hennington of Bay Springs, Tracy (Keisha) Wright, of Irvington, Ala., and Ted (Lisa) Hennington of Union; six grandchildren: Lisa, Troy, Aleisha, Drew, Matt, and Annaclaire; two sisters, Nellie and Betty Hennington, both of Quitman; one brother, Thomas Hennington of Laurel, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and ‘adopted’ family. Visitation was held at Colonial Chapel of Bay Springs on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Funeral was held at Antioch Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 with a viewing beforehand. Pallbearers were Roger Leitaker, Wiley Phillips, Jake Hyatt, Marcus Evans, Kris O’Kain, and Steve Harper. Buddy will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, a strong, genuine Christian, and a lifelong musician. He will be eternally missed.
