Lola Mae Austin, 65, of Big Creek died Sunday, March 22, 1970 in a Hinton hospital after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Summers County.

Born February 1905 at Ellison, she was a daughter of the late James Alexander Basham (1858-1924) and Mary Elizabeth Lilly-Basham (1870-1945). She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Austin (1892-1948) whom she married on March 29, 1924 in Summers County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Summers County, WV, 1924, Page 1, Line 28, Application Date: March 29, 1924); and her siblings, Sanford Ervin Basham (1881–1954), David F. Basham (1894–1895), Isabella Clementine Basham (1896–1896), Ernest Blaine Basham (1897–1947), Nathaniel Earl Basham (1901–1934), and Stacie Norma Basham-Stump (1912–1967).

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Beulah Basham-Crawford (1916-1994) of Hinton.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 1970 in the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton with Elder A. L. Neeley in charge. Burial will be in the Pack Cemetery at Ellison.
