Having lived a long life to its fullest, Wilma Louise Leonardo died on November 26, 2014, at peace and in the presence of those who loved her.
She was the fourth of five daughters born to Ellis and Eva Stanley in the small Quaker farming community of Springville, IA.
Wilma lived in Des Moines, IA, and worked for Drake University until moving to Tucson in 1991.
She was an avid bridge player later in life.
She lived her life with dignity, strength, and kindness. Her tolerance, resolve, and practical wisdom will forever be an inspiration to her family and friends.
Her husband, Jim; and daughter, Nancy Santos preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughter, Catherine of Albuquerque, NM; sons, James (Peggy) of Des Moines and John (Martha) of Tucson; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family gratefully acknowledges the loving care provided to Wilma during her last days by Sue Glas.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Odilia Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
