Cora Faye Burgess Foster, 89, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at her daughter’s residence.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Foster was born May 30, 1929, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Joseph & Beulah Howell Burgess.
She was a lifelong homemaker and farm wife, working alongside her husband as they farmed together for almost 70 years. She enjoyed painting and playing cards. She was an excellent cook and baker and she loved to fish. She was an active member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she served as clerk and treasurer, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, chaired the food committee and directed the children’s choir.
She is survived by a daughter, Dolores F. Wiggins of Fitzgerald; daughter-in-law, Jean G. Foster of Goshen, Indiana; grandchildren and their spouses: Pete & Kim Wiggins of Douglas, JoDee & David Grice of Fitzgerald, Dawn & Mark Graybill of Goshen, Indiana, Alan Foster of Goshen, Indiana, Mark & Julie Wiggins of Fitzgerald and Chris & April Wiggins of Gainesville, Florida; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Burgess of Atlanta; two sisters: Annelle Maddox of Eatonton and Jannelle Hadley of Oklahoma as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Eugene Foster; a son, Herman Michael “Mike” Foster; a son-in-law, Bobby Joe Wiggins; and nine brothers and sisters.
