Violet Castor, 87, of Moline, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at East Moline Nursing & Rehab Center, East Moline.

Visitation will be 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline.Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home.Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City.

Violet Bouge was born in Reliance, N.D., on Nov. 1, 1923, to Jessie and Mary V. (Uk) Bouge. She married Lavern E. Jacks Sr. in 1943 in St. Louis, Mo. Later in Rock Island, she was married to Bill Wilson, and then to Vernon Castor, who preceded her in death in 2006.

She attended Memorial Christian Church in Rock Island, and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a great cook, and was especially known for her delicious pies.

Survivors include son, Laverne E. "Corky" (Susie) Jacks Jr., Moline; a sister, Alice Aspeland, Burlington, Ind.; a brother, Charlie Bouge, Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Corrine Martin, Kimberly West, Jeffery Jacks, and Norman "C.J." Jacks; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
