run over by a horse and cart near his house in Little Bourke St, Melbourne – Coroner's report - 25/2/1889

from "The Argus" 25/2 1889
FATAL STREET ACCIDENT.
A fatal street accident occurred on Saturday, by which a child named John Harvey (NOTE WRONG NAME) lost his life.
The deceased, who was two years of age, and resided in Gordon-place, off
Little Bourke-street, was in the latter street at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, when a grocer cart owned by a Mr. Sheehan, of Carlton, and driven by a young man named Joseph Savage, passed up from Exhibition-street at a walking pace.
The driver drew over close to the pavement in order to avoid a lorry, and was watching this when it is supposed that the boy accidentally got under the wheel and was run over. He was taken to the Melbourne Hospital, where he never regained consciousness, and died yesterday.
Savage pulled up at once, and was taken to the Little Bourke-street watchhouse, but he was immediately bailed out, and it is under- stood that no blame whatever attaches to
him for the accident.
