Ralph C. Bastian, 78, 301 West 15th Street, Kaukauna, died at Parkside Care Center Friday, Jan. 29, 1988, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born July 15, 1909, in Brillion, and was a Kaukauna resident most of his life.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kaukauna, where he was a former lay leader, conference lay member, Sunday School superintendant and teacher, a member of the choir for over 40 years and a holder of various other offices.
He was a past patron Odile Chapter No. 184 O.E.S., a past grand representative of Connecticut in Wisconsin, Worshipful Master of Kaukauna Lodge No. 233 F.&A.M., Excellent High Priest, secretary, and 25-year member of Kaukauna Chapter No. 101 Royal Arch Masons, Possessed of Ritualistic Certificate from Kaukauna Lodge No. 233, and a member of the MacDowell Chorus.
Survivors include his wife, Alice K. (Wall) Bastian, whom her married Feb. 7, 1941; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Fred Evert, Menasha; a son, Rev. Dwight Bastian, Green Lake, Wisconsin; two grandsons, Justin and Jordan Evert; a brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Beatrice Bastian, Brillion; and a sister, Eulalia Wolfmeyer, Brillion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth (Zick) Bastian.
Private committal services were held for members of the immediate family at the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Highland Park Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Stammer officiating. He also officiated at their wedding in 1941.
