Dorothy Scifres, 86, of Hamlin passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019, in Hamlin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Central Baptist Church of Hamlin. Visitation is set for Tuesday, March 12, 2019, from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born November 22, 1932, in Bradshaw, TX to Claud and Nancy (Austin) Bagwell.

She met the love of her life, Curtis Ray Scifres and the couple was married April 2nd, 1955, in Sweetwater, TX.

Dorothy and Curtis lived the majority of their married life together in Hamlin.

Dorothy was a member of North Central Baptist Church in Hamlin, she loved worshiping and singing with her church family. Dorothy was the church’s oldest resident member and both she and the church were very proud of that.

Dorothy was an avid sports fan and loved cheering for her beloved Pied Pipers, San Antonio Spurs and rooted for Dallas and Houston on Sundays.

Family was very important to Dorothy, they were her life. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were her absolute pride and joy.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend.

She will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Ray Scifres; her parents and her baby sister, Alma Sue Bagwell; and one son, Ray Scifres.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Claud Scifres (Geraldine) of Pampa, TX and Cheryl Wood (J.W.) of Hawley; her grandchildren, Michael Scifres, Jeff Scifres, Eric Scifres, April Montgomery, Brian Scifres, Melanie Bishop and Curtis Bishop; great-grandchildren, Jackson Scifres, Avery Scifres, Anthony Scifres, Jessica Stark, Grayson Scifres, Mason Montgomery, Zach Montgomery and Everett Bishop; her brother, Austin Bagwell of San Antonio, TX; her sister, Lois Lambert (Doyle) of Robstown, TX; a special daughter, Rosie Scifres; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
