He enlisted into Unit Humphrey's Company, 6th Regiment, Conn. Line; Conn. Militia under Com. General Sylvenus Grove on 26 May 1777 in Guilford, New Haven, CT and was discharged 1 Jan 1778.
In Sep 1779 he was drafted again from the militia and was enrolled in the company commanded by Captain Augustus Collins, Lieutenant Landon and Ensign Andrew Jackson. He was discharged 1 Oct 1779.
Oct 1781 in Bradford, New Haven, CT he was drafted and attached to a company of 50 men commanded by Captain Enoch Staples. He was discharged Dec 1781.
He married Sarah Gorham on 28 Apr 1783 in Branford, New Haven, CT. She was a daughter of Timothy Gorham and Sarah Brown and born 3 Jul 1763 in New Haven, New Haven, CT

On 1 Oct 1832 he applied for Pension and on 25 Apr 1833 his certificate was issued.
He wrote his Will on 10 May 1834. His wife Sarah died 28 Oct 1835 and he died 15 May 1836. he was buried at Buckbee Corners, Chili, Monroe, NY.
