Kenneth Wayne Bannister, 76, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Scott Memorial Hospital.

He was born on September 2, 1942 in Crothersville, Indiana, the son of the late Kenneth Allen Bannister and Estelle (Baxter) Bannister.

He was married on May 29, 1963 to Bonnie Lou (Barnard) Bannister.

Kenneth retired in 2000 from the fuel injector department at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana, where he worked for 30 years and also had worked at the old U.S. Shoe Factory in Crothersville for seven years. He was a Honorary member of the Scott County Sheriff’s Posse for 42 years, a member of the Indiana Sheriff’s Association and former member of the Scott County and Pekin Saddle Clubs. He loved riding his horses, camping and trail riding.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ernest A. Bannister.

Survivors include wife of 55 years, Bonnie Bannister; three daughters, Bonita Shirley and husband Mark, Melissa Bruck and husband David and Becky Johnson all of Scottsburg, Indiana; a sister, Patricia Joan Davidson of Seymour, Indiana; six grandchildren, Travis Shirley (Danielle), Jesse Bruck (Mandy), Ashton Shirley, Dylan and Mason Johnson and Ethan Napier and one great-grandson, Tucker Shirley.

Funeral Service: 3:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Sweeney officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Tuesday and 1:00 to 3:00 pm Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
