Ramon Luna, 64, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at his home in Des Moines.

Ramon was born October 4, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa and grew up in the Southeast Bottoms. He was the eighth of twelve children. He loved music in general and played in a band in the late 60s called Latino Pride, in which he played drums and sang. His favorite musician was Freddy Fender, and he especially loved the song, “Before the Next Teardrop Falls.” Ramon loved western movies and wearing cowboy hats. He always loved attending the dances at the Val Air Ballroom.

Ramon is survived by his sons, Mike Howe, Ronald Ramsey, Ramon Louis Jr., and Dakota Duff; siblings, Richard Luna, Roman (Pamela) Luna, Charles (Bette) Luna, Joe (Linda) Luna, Antonio (Donna) Luna, Mary (Dagoberto) Luna-Rodriguez, and Robert Luna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Luna; and his siblings, John Jr., Connie, Adela, and Rachel.

There will be no public services held.
